Swap-Bot Swaps Galore

Joined this swap on swap-bot on Tuesday, and thought I would put up a pic of the stuff I sent to my Partner so here it is:

There are some flowers, prima pearls, leaves, fancy paper clips, butterfly and dragonfly brads as well as round brads, a little pink ticket, and some netting and lace. Also a cute butterfly card to write a nice little message in. I hope my partner likes the little package that I have sent.

I also Joined this swap,  and here are the stamped images that I have sent:

The last swap that I joined is this one, it involved writing a list of things under your bathroom sink and this is what I cam up with, yep thats right that will make it 2 lists this week.

Things Under My Bathroom Sink:

  • Hair Straightener
  • Puppy Shampoo (strange considering I own a cat)
  • Berry Scented Liquid Hand Soap
  • Toilet Paper
  • Lots of Hair Accessories, and I mean Lots!
  • De Lorenzo Hair Products (given to me by my friends mum, they suck actually and make my hair feel crappy)
  • Home Made Shower Scrubs made by body'roma
  • Lots of Make Up, even though I don't wear it that often
  • Hair Dryer
  • Hair Clippers and Hairdressers Scissors
  • A Spoon ???? No Idea why that is there???
  • Shower Cap
Well that's a strange list I still have no idea about the spoon but, oh well makes for interesting list item though.

Until next time......

Post Cards

I just joined a Photography Post Card Swap on swap-bot that can be found here, it is on my watchlist at the moment because being a newbie to the swap-bot site I can only be involved in 5 swaps at a time.

The requirements of the swap were to take a photo of a post box and turn it into a postcard, then send it to 3 different swap partners. I took my photo and decided to make it interesting by altering the photo in Photoshop. Here is the original photo:

Here it is with a grunge like border and a filter added to it (don't remember what filter I used). Looks good but I decided it needed something to make the post box stand out more....

So I took all the color out of it except for the red of the box itself, and here is the final result.

I am getting better at this whole Photoshop thing, so much so that I have decided to enroll in a course that teaches you about Photoshop, the only issue I will have is that the course requirements are that you have Adobe Photoshop CS4, and I only have CS3. I will have to get in contact with the course lecturer to find out if this is OK. I hope it will be otherwise it will cost me a fortune just to upgrade my version to the correct one.

Let me know what you think about how the photo turned out....

Historical Port Adelaide

I had to go to Port Adelaide early this morning, so on my way home I decided to snap a few photos using my new iPhone app. I altered them a little and overall I am quite happy how they turned out. Here they are:

The first one is an old rundown building on the river not sure what it was used for and it is really hard to get to because of the new development that is happening.  The second one is of the old Birkenhead bridge that crosses the Port Adelaide River. The bridge shot looks a little dark because the sun was behind the bridge, but I like the way the bridge looks like a silhouette. I would love to get a shot of this bridge open but because the government built a new bridge a little more up river this one hardy opens anymore.

Going to head down to Semaphore later today to get some historical shots of some of the buildings and monuments there, there is heaps down there as Port Adelaide and Semaphore are both historic suburbs of Adelaide.

Recently I walked into a shop in Port Adelaide that sold antique photos of the area before the 1950's, I would love to buy some of these but as usual they are rather expensive, and my purse won't allow me to buy them. Besides what would I do with them anyway, they would be too good to cut up and use in a collage. the only thing they would be good for would be putting in frames on the wall, I don't get enough visitors to my house to show them off so to me that would be a waste of money that could be spent on art supplies.

Well that's all form me for now, hopefully I will have some more photos to show off later, I am really loving the new photography apps that I downloaded so I will have to try them all out.

Until then, have a great Tuesday.

Lists

I have decided that I am not very good at the random thing so what I am going to do is try to make one list of things a week.

This week it's this:

Things I Do, That I Wish I Didn't
  • Smoke - I really need to quit, but I don't have the will power right now. I will one day!
  • Get freaked out at being home alone - I'm nearly 30 for god sake and I am afraid of the dark!
  • Talk in my sleep - can be very dangerous, I have been known to let out secrets in my sleep!
  • Have conversations with myself - Usually it's me trying to talk myself out of something, but I can't seem to do it in my head only out loud.
  • Spend too much money - I need to SAVE, but I love Art Supplies way too much!
  • Pay for Gym Membership, and not use it - pretty self explanatory.
After writing all that I have realized that I am rather random, I don't always blog about the same thing so to me that is rather random.

And just because I love baby gorillas so much here is another picture of one:

Did I mention that I love baby Gorillas?

Finally Figured It Out....

the reason I didn't like my new Derwent Inktence Blocks. I was not using the correct paper. I was using standard 110 gsm sketchbook paper. Then I managed to get my hands on some new stuff..... I think it may have a some sort of linen blend or something and bingo...... it's perfect.

I made myself 3 (almost identical) books with this paper in it there are approximately 70 pages in each and they are just a fraction larger than A5 size, with handmade back covers and black plastic (like the stuff on sketchbooks) front covers.

Here they are:

The one in the middle shows the patterned paper that I used to cover the board I used for the back covers. And again I used my trusty bind-it-all. Just for the hell of it here is a pic of said bind-it-all:

Well I'm done for tonight anyway, it's getting kinda late actually it's getting really late here in Adelaide it's nearly 1.30am Friday morning. I should really stop having really late nights, because I am such a morning person and no matter how late I go to sleep, I always seem to get up at 7am.......

Well lets see if that happens tomorrow shall we.....

Art Journal For Beginners - Swap Bot Swap

I joined this swap on swap-bot because I am really into Art Journaling. And because I love any excuse to use my bind-it-all, I made the journal my self. Here is what I have come up with so far:

This is the front cover:

Inside Cover and Page 1.

Page 2 & 3 - This is Me....

Page 4 & 5 - Wings

Page 6 & 7 - Adds

There will be about 30 double spread pages in total, each with different prompts. I am going to work on this a little more today prolly do another 3 or 4 more prompts. I just wont stay up for as long as I did doing this last night. I ended up going to bed at 2am, needless to say I am a little tired today but that's OK I get to have a nap later today.

In other news I have gotten in contact with a lovely lady in Victoria named Glenda, that sells the Art Journaling Magazine made by Stampington & Company. Here is a picture of the issue that I am getting:

I can't wait to get it in the mail. I will probably lay down on my bed with the electric blanket on  and spend a few hours reading it from cover to cover.

If anyone is interested in taking a look at Glenda's Blog you can see it here, she has some fantastic stuff here especially her ATC's they are fabulous.

Well thats all from me for now, keep checking back.
